Danica Pommerenck is in her fourth season at Fram. She came to Fram as a native of Southern California after completing four years at UC Riverside, along with Fram coach Renee Scachetti. Danica was recruited in 2001, by Coach Veronica O’Brien (ex Canadian National Team player) to be on UC Riverside’s historical Division 1 women’s soccer squad. While at UC Riverside Danica was appointed President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Her junior and senior year Danica was offered the head coaching position for Riverside FC Milan GU15, followed by seasons as head JV coach for Poly, Jurupa and King all finishing off first in their conference. In 2006 she also worked under Brad Gomez as South High School’s girl’s JV soccer coach. Recently her GU15 received first in their 2009 Bronze West Division and will be moving up to Silver in the upcoming 2010 season.
Currently Danica resides in Long Beach and is eagerly finishing her Masters in Sport Management at USF. Danica has worked with W-League’s Pali Blues in community relations, as well as in PR for L.A. Sol’s inaugural season. After many years of playing and coaching soccer Danica still has a drive and desire to be on the pitch and help young women pursue their soccer skills and dreams. You can still see her in action on her women’s HBSC (Hermosa Beach Soccer Club) squad on Sundays.
Danica’s soccer history includes playing for PV Breakers and South Bay Force where Erick Miseroy-“Mizzy” took her team from Bronze to Gold in a matter of time. Danica then went on to play for Westside Breakers’ U-19 Premier team under Mike Page. During the 2000 league season, her U19 Westside Breakers team finished in 6th place out of 12 teams in the prestigious Coast Soccer U19 Premier League, the highest division in the most competitive league in the country. This finish was the highest level ever attained by any Westside club soccer team. Her same U19 team also won the CYSA State Open Cup championship in 2000.
